Currently, Indonesia suffers from Double Burden of Malnutrition (DBM) due to the occurrence of epidemiology transition in the field of nutrition. While we are trying to tackle underweight, stunting, and anemia problems, we are also facing the effects of overnutrition (overweight, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, etc.). In
addition, the rapid growth of food industries, the increasing public awareness about nutrition, the wide spread recommendation of inappropriate diet to the latest evidence in the field of nutrition, and the increasing number of nutrition and health claims from food and beverages products have increased the demand of nutrition professionals that are capable of overcoming those various phenomena.
Nutrition is one of the key areas for human resources improvement to be tough and independent as well as to be able to compete in the globalization era. The increasing complexity of nutritional problem in Indonesia raises the demand for adequate competencies of nutrition expertises. Department of Public Health Nutrition is one of seven departments offered by the Faculty of Public Health Universitas Indonesia. Since 2008, in order to meet the requirements of nutrition expertises, students will hold Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (BSc. Nutr) upon the completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of Nutrition at Department of Public Health Nutrition. Our department also offer a Magister Program of Public Health specialized in Public Health Nutrition.
